Planning First. Precision Always.

At Stevenson Dental Group, implant dentistry is approached as a restorative problem before it is a surgical one.
Long-term success depends on diagnosis, risk assessment, restorative design, and maintenance—not simply placing an
implant.

Our Philosophy on Implant Care

Dental implants can be a reliable solution when used thoughtfully. They can also fail prematurely when planning,
biology, or restorative considerations are overlooked. Our responsibility is to determine when implants are
appropriate—and when alternative approaches may better serve the patient.

Every implant recommendation considers:

  • Overall oral and systemic health
  • Bone quality, volume, and anatomical limitations
  • Bite forces, wear patterns, and parafunction
  • Restorative design and long-term maintenance

Restorative-Driven Planning

We plan implants from the final restoration backward. This means understanding how the tooth should function, how
it will be cleaned and maintained, and how forces will be managed over time—before placement ever occurs.

This approach supports:

  • More predictable function and esthetics
  • Reduced risk of mechanical overload or failure
  • Improved long-term tissue stability

Precision and Technology

When appropriate, we use advanced diagnostic and planning tools to improve accuracy and reduce risk. These may
include 3D imaging and guided or robotic-assisted placement techniques.

Technology supports decision-making—it does not replace it. Tools are selected based on clinical need, not routine.

When Implant Dentistry Is Considered

  • Replacement of missing teeth when adjacent teeth should be preserved
  • Teeth with a poor long-term prognosis that cannot be predictably restored
  • Failed prior restorations or implants requiring reevaluation
  • Complex restorative cases requiring stable anchorage

In some situations, we may recommend delaying or avoiding implants if risks outweigh benefits.

Risk, Maintenance, and Longevity

Implants require ongoing maintenance and monitoring. We discuss these responsibilities clearly before treatment
begins, including hygiene requirements, bite protection, and long-term follow-up.

Our goal is not simply integration—but performance over time.

Implant Care Within a Teaching Environment

Stevenson Dental Group is the patient-care affiliate of Stevenson Dental Solutions, through which our doctors teach implant planning and execution to practicing dentists.

In select cases, implant care may occur in a supervised educational setting. Participation is always
voluntary, with direct oversight and informed consent.

Next Steps

If you are considering implant dentistry, the first step is a comprehensive evaluation. We will assess risk,
review alternatives and outline a plan to ensure long-term stability and functionality.
